Gustave Gerhard Coppel (c1855-1946)

Born c1855 in Germany. [1]

1876 Involved from the inception with J. J. Saville and Co, becoming a partner (date not known but probably before 1881).[2]

1878 Naturalized as a British Citizen [3]

1904 Appointed managing director of newly registered J. J. Saville and Co Limited.[4]

1909 Reported[5] to have been the inventor of the Triumph Superb high speed steel introduced by J. J. Saville and Co in 1909 and used for the cutting blades in Paravanes in WW1.

1923 Succeeded the late Sir Albert J. Hobson as chairman of J. J. Saville and Co Limited. [6]

1931 Retirement as Chairman of J. J. Saville and Co and William Jessop and Sons. Replaced by Lewis Chapman. [7]

1946 November 15th. Died
