To William Bickford Smith, of Camborne, in the county of Cornwall, Merchant, and William Bennetts, of Tucking Mill, in the county of Cornwall, Engineer, for the invention of "improvements in the method of, and apparatus for, preventing the injurious effects occasioned by smoke, sulphur, and the deleterious gases which escape from stacks, chimneys, calcining houses, chemical and other furnaces."[1]
1870 Patent. '1735. And William Bickford Smith, of Tuckingmill, in the county of Cornwall, Safe Fuze Manufacturer, has given the like notice in respect of the invention of "an improved coating for safety fuzes used in mining."'[2]
