1927 Herbert Glencairn Wright Chichester-Miles set up a business as merchants and suppliers of rubber components to the automobile industry under the name Empire Rubber Company. [1]
1929 H. G. Miles Ltd was incorporated as a private company to acquire this business which continued to trade under the name Empire Rubber.
