FRANK LANDER ROWE was born at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on 10th April 1868.
After being educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, he entered the shops of the old engineering firm of Messrs. James Watt and Co., Soho, continuing his studies at Mason College during his apprenticeship.
On completion of his time as an articled pupil he was given charge of important erection work in connection with the extension of the Bristol Waterworks.
During the period from 1894 to 1898 ho was engaged in full charge, first in the erection and later in the management, of the new pumping machinery at the Farnsfield Pumping Station of the Newark Waterworks.
In August 1898 he entered the service of Mr. Frederick Edwards, consulting engineer, of Bishopsgate Street, London, and subsequently became chief draughtsman of the Edwards Air Pump Syndicate.
On the retirement of Mr. Edwards from the managing directorship, Mr. Rowe was appointed manager of the Syndicate.
In 1908 he was appointed manager of the Contraflo Condenser Co., in conjunction with his management of the Edwards Air Pump Syndicate — both of which appointments he held at the time of his death, which took place from pneumonia at his residence at Loughton, Essex, on 10th December 1909, in his forty-second year.
He became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1901.
