WALTER WARWICK, b0111 at Bolton on 12th March 1870, served his apprenticeship with Messrs. J. and E. Wood of Bolton.
During the following ten years he gained a very varied experience with firms in England, America and France, as chargeman erector. Amongst these may be mentioned Messrs. Brunner, Mond & Co., Cheshire, Messrs. J. B. Ford & Co., Wyandotte, Michigan, Messrs. Hick Hargreaves and Co., Bolton, and the French branch of the Westinghouse Co.
In 1900 he was appointed Chief Engineer at Messrs. Elliotts' Metal Co.'s works at Selly Oak, Birmingham, but in the following year he went abroad again to India as Engineer-in-Charge for Messrs. E. D. Sassoon & Co. of Bombay.
Five years later Mr. Warwick became the Bombay representative of Messrs. Hick, Hargreaves and Co., and remained with that firm until his retirement in 1921.
He was responsible for many improvements in the design of slow-speed engines of the Corliss valve and Uniflow types.
His death occurred at Wimbledon on 5th September 1926.
He became an Associate Member of this Institution in 1902.
