RICHARD WHICHELLO was born in Cambridge on 11th September 1866, and was educated at Newport Grammar School, Essex, and at the Lincoln Science Schools during the period of his apprenticeship with Messrs. Ruston, Proctor and Co, Ltd.
In 1887 he was appointed agent for the same firm in Brazil, and some years later founded an engineering and importing firm in Rio de Janeiro, of which he was senior partner. He was the pioneer of the importation of textile machinery into Brazil.
He was Chairman of the firm of Whichellos, Ltd., London, and acted as honorary representative in London of the British Chamber of Commerce in Brazil.
His death took place suddenly from pneumonia in Rio de Janeiro, on 28th May 1923, in his fifty-seventh year.
He became a Graduate of this Institution in 1888, and was transferred to Member in 1922.
