Thomas Napier Armit (c1846-1910), managing director of the East Coast Salvage Co

Born in Montrose

Age 17, he was apprenticed to Alexander Stephen and Sons.

1878 Started his own salvage business.

1879 He raised the wreckage of the Tay Bridge
