1812 This was a continuation of the Llanvihangel Railway in the Hereford direction as far as the 12th milestone from that city. It was sanctioned on May 20th, 1812, by 52 Geo. III., c. 107. [1]
Opening in 1818/9 this 7 mile plateway was engineered by John Hodgkinson on a gauge of 3ft 6ins.
It extended the Llanvihangel Railway to Monmouth where (in 1829) the Hereford Railway joined it.
In 1846 they were absorbed by the Newport, Abergavenny and Hereford Railway (NA&HR)
