William Brierley was born in 1880 and served his apprenticeship with [[Furnival and Co]], [[T. Slack and Co]] at Stockport, and [[Vickers, Sons and Maxim]].

William Brierley was born in 1880 and served his apprenticeship with Furnival and Co, T. Slack and Co at Stockport, and Vickers, Sons and Maxim.

After a number of years in business on his own account he was appointed to manage the Hazel Motor and Cycle Co, Forest Gate, until 1914, when he went to Calcutta, first as Manager of Walter Locke and Co, and subsequently of Beecroft, Brierley and Co.

From 1922 up to the time of his death he was Manager and Chief Engineer of The Commercial Carrying Co., Ltd., Shillong, Assam.

He died in August, 1936, at the age of 56.

He was elected an Associate Member in 1929.
