EDWARD BAKER HARLOCK was a pupil of Professor Osborne Reynolds at Owens College, Manchester.
On completing his college course he served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Withinshaw and Company of Birmingham. He was subsequently appointed assistant manager at Messrs. Brunner, Mond and Company's works at Northwich.
In 1889 he took up a partnership with Messrs. Howarth and Company, chemical manufacturers, of Manchester, and was responsible for reconstructing their plant.
In 1894 he was appointed manager to Messrs. Murgatroyd's Ammonia, Soda and Salt Syndicate at Middlewich. This company was later absorbed by the Brunner, Mond Company, and from 1915 Mr. Harlock had full charge of their works, both at Middlewich and Sandbach, and carried out much reconstruction work.
His death took place on 5th July 1932.
He was born at Banbury in 1859 and had been a Member of the Institution since 1898.
