Herbert Wealleans (1892-1927)


1927/28 Obituary <ref>1927/28 Institution of Automobile Engineers: Obituaries‎</ref

Herbert Wealleans was born in 1892 and received his technical education at Rutherford College, Newcastle-on-Tyne.

He served his time with Henry Watson and Sons, Newcastle, and after a further four years with the same firm as a journeyman draughtsman, he took up a similar position in the Aviation Department of Armstrong Whitworth.

He then transferred to the Motor Car Department, and in 1919 was appointed a leading draughtsman.

He subsequently occupied positions as leading draughtsman with Straker-Squire, Ruston and Hornsby and Scammell, being with the latter firm up to the time of his death, which took place on 12th July, 1927.

He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1920.
