Louis Auguste Charles de la Garde was born in 1895 and served his apprenticeship with Mr. Carl Opperman.
Following this he joined The Royal Naval Air Service and rose from ist Class Air Mechanic to Leading Engineer. He then served as Workshops Officer in the Mechanical Transport, being demobilised as Staff Captain and thereupon established his own motor repair business. He was subsequently associated with The General Motor's Corporation as Assistant to the President, and during the latter part of his career was Managing Director of General Motors (Near East), and of Lex Garages, Ltd.
He died on 5th March, 1936, at the age of 40.
He was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1915, was transferred to Associate Member in 1917, and to Member in 1930.
