"JOHN GEORGE THOMAS SPRY, whose untimely death occurred on 30th March 1950 at the early age of thirty-four, was elected a Graduate of the Institution in 1942, and transferred to Associate Membership in the following year.
He was educated at Plymouth Grammar School and obtained his technical instruction at the Plymouth and Devonport Technical College. After serving his apprenticeship with the Plymouth and Stonehouse Gas Co, from 1933 to 1938, he remained with that company as a junior draughtsman for a further two years.
