"WALTER HAROLD GODDARD, who was born in 1897, served his apprenticeship with [[Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies|Messrs. Ransomes, Sims and Jefferies, Ltd]]., of Ipswich, from 1914 to 1918, in whose employment he continued as assistant to the shop superintendent with the charge of the planning and rate fixing departments for a further two years. He then went to India to take up an appointment in Northern Bengal as engineer to the [[Nedeem Tea Co|Nedeem Tea Company, Ltd]]., in which capacity he was responsible for the layout and erection of a hydro-electric scheme. He relinquished this post in 1924 and began a connection with [[Trinidad Leaseholds|Messrs. Trinidad Leaseholds, Ltd]]., which was only terminated by his death in London on 10th November 1948. During this long period he was, for the most part, employed as a field engineer in Trinidad, where he was responsible for the installation and operation of a narrow gauge railway and also for the installations at new power stations. "WALTER HAROLD GODDARD, who was born in 1897, served his apprenticeship with Messrs.
