After three years as junior engineer to the [[Hastings Gas Co]] the remainder of his career was identified with engineering in London, where he successively occupied positions as draughtsman to various firms, including [[Humphrys, Tennant and Co|Messrs. Humphrys and Tennant, Ltd]]., with whom he remained for three years. In 1903 he accepted a similar appointment with [[Dewrance and Co|Messrs. Dewrance and Company, Ltd]]., and subsequently was with [[Hunt and Mittens|Messrs. Hunt and Mittens]]. The last twenty years of his life were spent with [[A. Grabham and Co|Messrs. Grabham and Company, Ltd]]. Mr. George's death occurred on 19th June 1947 in his seventy-fifth year."
