ARTHUR DICKINSON retained a close connection with engineering in the Manchester district throughout his career. He received his education at the Royal Technical Institute, Salford, and served his apprenticeship from 1906 to 1909 at the Salford Corporation Electricity Works, where he remained as a junior assistant for a further four years.
