Mr John G. Holmes (Fellow) Chairman of the Australian Branch died on 29th June at his home in Melbourne.
Mr Holmes served his apprenticeship with John Brown and Co Ltd, Sheffield. During the 1939-45 war he served with the REME in which he attained the rank of Lt. Col and served at one time as Assistant Director (Metallurgy) at the Fighting Vehicle Design and Development Department of the Ministry of Supply.
