"FREDERICK ALBERT COX spent the whole of his professional career in India. He was born in 1875 and educated at Taunton School. On the completion of a two years' apprenticeship at the [[Dudbridge Ironworks]], Stroud, in 1898, he began his long connection with India as the proprietor of an engineering business at Nagercoil. In 1903 he joined the staff of [[George Brunton and Son|Messrs. George Brunton and Son]] as an assistant and took charge of large drainage operations. Subsequently he was appointed manager and eventually became managing partner. Since 1938 he had been a director and engineer-in-charge of the [[South Indian Engineering Works|South Indian Engineering Works, Ltd]]., Palluruthy, Cochin, South India, where his death occurred on 1st November 1949. Mr. Cox had been a Member of the Institution since 1920."
