He was Manchester man, and served his apprenticeship as engineer in the firm of Sharp, Stewart, and Co. emigrated 1861, and recently made a trip round the world for the benefit of his health. 1843 Born in Manchester the son of Joseph Mirls and his wife Harriet Henry

1851 Living at 18 Hanover Street, Manchester: Joseph Mirls (age 45 born Prussia, British subject), Furrier and Marine Store Dealer. With his wife Harriet Mirls (age 33 born Liverpool) and their six children; Aaron Mirls (age 12 born Manchester); Rosina Mirls (age 9 born Manchester); Solomon Mirls (age 7 born Manchester); Victoria Mirls (age 5 born Manchester); Frederick Mirls (age 2 born Manchester); and Evelyn Mirls (age 2 months born Manchester).
