Peter Ewart (c1767-1842) of the Soho Foundry
an employee of Boulton and Watt
c.1795 Designed a vertical cylinder-boring mill for installation at the works of Boulton and Watt. However, it was not constructed, Watt preferring the established horizontal type.
1842 September 15th. Died. 'On the 15th inst., at the Royal Dock Yard, Woolwich, age 75 years, Peter Ewart, Esq., chief engineer and inspector of machinery to her majesty's government.'[1]
