Louise Bazalgette née Seville (c1846-1918), motorist
1846 Born in Linton, Cambridgeshire, the daughter of John Seville, farmer.
1870 April 9th. Married George Bazalgette (1829–1885), of Plymouth, a captain (later major) in the Royal Marines and there were no children. George Bazalgette was a cousin of Joseph Bazalgette. The marriage certificate states Louisa Seville daughter of John Seville, Farmer.
1871 Living at 2 Prospect Place, Heavitree, Exeter, Devon: George Bazalgette (age 44 born Halifax, Nova Scotia), Captain Royal Marines. With his wife Louise Bazalgette (age 26 born Catmore, Cambridgeshire. Three servants.[1]
Lived at 52 Upper Gloucester Place, Dorset Square, London
Lived at 26 Dorset Square, where she kept a boarding-house.
Lived at 5 Bryanstone Street, Portman Square close to the London showroom of Henry Hewetson, and she became a keen motorist.
1896 November 14th. Took part in the first London-Brighton run
1899 August. 'Mrs Bazalgette who drove the other day from her house in Portman Square to Southampton' [2]
1900. Took part in the 1900 One Thousand Mile Trial driving a 3hp Benz
1903 Competitor in the Bexhill speed trials
1911 At 3 Old Quebec Street, London: Louise Bazalgette (age 50 born Devonshire), Lady - Widow. Also a boarder Henry Hewetson (age 59 born battersea), Tea Business, 39 Seethings Lane. Unmarried. Also a visitor Ada Doris Boscowitz (born Brighton), Singer.[3]
