Lieut. JOHN CRICHTON. R.N.. received his education at Oundle School, and his engineering training at the works of Messrs. Belliss and Morcom, Ltd., and the Birmingham Central Technical College during 1924-30. He then joined the firm of Messrs. William Heap and Partners, Ltd., engineers, of Liverpool, and after spending some time on the staff of their associated company in Newfoundland, returned to Liverpool in 1931 as the manager of the Engineering Sales Department, taking charge of negotiations for plant installations over a wide area in the north.
In 1937 he was elected to the board of the company. After the outbreak of war he joined the Royal Navy as an Engineer Officer, and was subsequently promoted Lieutenant R.N. His death in action on H.M.S. Galatea in December 1941 terminated a promising career at the early age of thirty-five.
Lieut. Crichton joined the Institution as a Student in 1928, and was transferred to Associateship in 1937.
