of Marsh House Mill, Darwen, Lancs.
A subsidiary of The Wall Paper Manufacturers Ltd..
1939 Established at Queen's Mill, Darwen, just prior to the outbreak of war - an unpropitious moment for the commencement of an enterprise of this kind. But those behind it, confident that there were attractive opportunities for development in this field of production, persevered with the project in spite of the serious set back to their initial plans.
In 1947 an ideal factory, Marsh House Mill, Darwen, was secured, and the transfer from the old premises to the new made without appreciable loss of production although a large number of employees was involved.
Women employees at Darwen and were found quickest to adapt themselves to the intricate work of brush manufacture.
The factory had its own store of specially treated woods, and instituted many up-to-date processes for shaping, turning and finishing the various handles made from these woods.
1949 John Watson was the director in charge.
