1790 Messrs Newton and Kinder went into business together.

1856 J. A. McNaught joined the firm.

1858 Exhibited wood-shaping machine designed by Andrew Kinder

When Mr Kinder retired, Thomas Lamb Smith joined the company which became (by 1862) McNaught and Smith
