British Titan Products Ltd of Billingham, Teeside
- 1933 Company formed to make titanium dioxide pigments[1]. Jointly owned by ICI, Imperial Smelting Corporation, Goodlass, Wall and Lead Industries and National Lead Co of America. Acquired land from ICI at Billingham to erect a plant.
- 1934 First production at Billingham, 900 tons.
- 1943 Involved in conspiracy charge by US Department of Justice against National Lead Co[2].
- 1948 Capital Issue. By this time R. W. Greeff and Co was one of the shareholders, together with ICI, Imperial Smelting Corporation, Goodlass, Wall and Lead Industries[3]
- 1949 Additional plant at Grimsby making rutile.
- By 1968 Imperial Smelting Corporation was part of Rio Tinto Zinc
- 1970 Production capacity 27000 tons at Billingham, 80000 tons at Grimsby. Further plant under construction near Hartlepool[4].
- 1973 Rio Tinto Zinc sold its shares to its 3 partners.
- 1976 Name changed to Tioxide Group.
