1859 Birth of son Charles Alfred Christie in Greenwich
1860 Went to work for John Wigham Richardson as manager in his new business on the understanding that he would become a partner if all went well with the business. He brought 3 Scottish foremen with him from Dumbarton, Messrs Maxwell, Buchanan and Milne.
