1886 Married Kate Maria Avey in Germany

1901 Living at Mount Tavy, Tavistock, Devon: William Holzapfel (age 42 born Germany). With his wife Kate Holzapfel (age 41 born Holton, Suffolk) and their two sons Frederick Holzapfel (age 14 born Newcastle Upon Tyne) and John Holzapfel (age 12 born Gateshead). Two servants.[1]

1911 Living at North Elswick Hall, Newcastle: William Holzapfel (age 52 born Lippe, Germany), Shop Owner - Employer. With his wife Kate Holzapfel (age 51 born Hotton, Suffolk) and their son Frederick Holzapfel (age 24 born Newcastle), Engineer (Steam - Shipbuilders). Also his nephew George Holzapfel (age 22 born Annerley, London), Engineer (Gas Engines). Three servants.[2]
