The Ynys-y-gerwyn rolling and tin mills were located to the east of Aberdulais and close to the River Neath.

1889 A tinplate works of three mills was built on the ironworks site.

It was operative for sixty years

1937 British Industries Fair Advert for Welsh Tinplate Works. As part of Richard Thomas and Co. Tinplate and Blackplate. (Engineering/Metals/Quarry, Roads and Mining/Transport Section - Stand No. D.328) [1]

1946 The plant was finally dismantled in 1946 under the Tinplate Redundancy Scheme .
