1874 Advert: 'MOSS BRIDGE BOILER WORKS, CRAWFORD-STREET. J. & W. BARLOW (Late Earnshaw, Barlow, & Holt), Having built New and Extensive Premises, are prepared to execute all Orders entrusted to them with promptness and despatch. J. & W. BARLOW.' [1]
1886 Partnership dissolved. '... the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned Edward Earnshaw and Thomas Stephen Holt, carrying on business as Boiler Makers and Engineers, at Oldham road, Rochdale, in the county of Lancaster, under the style or firm of Earnshaw and Holt, has been this day dissolved by mutual consent....'[2]

Extract of an 1898 advert: 'Lanebottom Hair Refining Works, Walsden, near Todmorden. TO BE SOLD BY AUCTION, by Messsrs. J. GLEDHILL & SON (under instructions from the Exors. of the late Mr. J. W. Schofield), on the above premises, on the 20th day of Aprxl, 1898, all those substantial STONE-BUILT PREMISES known as “Lanebottom Hair Refining Works,” situate Walsden, near Todmorden; together with the single-flued Steam Boiler, 21ft. long 4ft tin. diameter; Steam Engine. 14 h.p., by Earnshaw, Barlow and Holt; Shafting, Gearing, &c., complete.'[4]
