1974 Formation of British Airways Group incorporating BOAC and BEA which were then dissolved.
1976 The world’s first passenger supersonic services were inaugurated simultaneously by British Airways to Bahrain and Air France to Rio de Janeiro via Dakar. Concorde flights to Washington Dulles started later that year, but problems with noise levels delayed operations to New York.
1977 Concorde services started to New York JFK, and later to Singapore as an extension of the Bahrain service.
1987 British Airways plc was privatised. Merger with British Caledonian as it was in financial difficulty.
2011 British Airways and Iberia merged, creating the International Airlines Group.
