J. E. V. Winterbourne Ltd, clock casemakers of Goodwood Works on the North Circular Road in London were purchased by Smiths. Mr. J. E. V. Winterbourne became Smith's chief designer when Smiths took over Winterbourne Mallison (clockcase makers) - creating the Goodwood Works next to Chronos - the later Radiomobile works.
