1782 Company established by John Hare[1]
1815 Partnership between John Hare, Charles Hare and John Hare junior, floorcloth manufacturer and colourmen, trading under the name John Hare and Sons dissolved. The business was subsequently carried on under the name John Hare and Son.[2]
1820 Running of the company passed to John Hare's sons John Hare and Charles Hare.[3]
1824 Partnership between John Hare, Charles Hare and John Hare junior, floorcloth manufactures, oil and colourmen, dissolved and reformed with Robert Leonard as an additional partner. Trading as John Hare and Sons.[4]
1828 Partnership between John Hare, John Hare junior and Robert Leonard, trading as John Hare and Sons, floorcloth manufactures, oil and colourmen, dissolved, following John Hare's retirement. Business subsequently continued by John Hare junior, Charles Hare and Robert Leonard as John Hare and Co.[5]
1839 Death of John Hare.
1869 Partnership between John Hare, Sholto Vere Hare, Charles Bowles Hare and Henry Grace Hare, in the business of floorcloth, white lead and colour manufacturers, oil merchants and flax spinners, trading under the names John Hare and Co, Charles Hare and Co and Hare Brothers has been dissolved by mutual consent, due to John and Sholto Hare's retirement. The family's businesses continued trading under their existing names. The remaining two partners, Charles and Henry Hare, were joined by John Hare's son, John Strachey Hare.[6]
1878 Partnership between Charles Bowles Hare, Henry Grace Hare, John Strachey Hare and Charles Felce Hare, in the business of floorcloth, white lead and colour manufacturers, oil merchants and flax spinners, trading under the names John Hare and Co, Charles Hare and Co and Hare Brothers has been dissolved by mutual consent, due to John Hare's retirement. The family's businesses continued trading under their existing names.[7]
1973 John Hare and Co Ltd., paint manufacturers, Avon Street, Bristol, still in business, but closed soon after.[8]
