WILLIAM TOZER died at his residence, Tapton Edge, Sheffield, on August 2, 1923.
He was a son of the late Alderman E. Tozer, Master Cutler of Sheffield in 1873, and was educated at Sheffield and Brighton, and joined Steel, Peech & Tozer, Ltd., in 1876. He was a director of Steel, Peech & Tozer, Ltd., and of United Steel Companies, Ltd., steel manufacturers, of Sheffield, and was mainly concerned with the manufacturing side of the business, and travelled extensively on the Continent and the United States, acquiring a valuable knowledge of industrial methods in those countries for a number of years.
He had been associated with the Volunteer movement, and received his commission while serving with the York and Lancaster Regiment.
He was elected a member of the Iron and Steel Institute in 1883.
