Jonas Haley, card clothing manufacturer, and John Henry Pinder, engineer, both of Cleckheaton applied for various patents:

1913 Improvement in machines for hammering wire drawing dies

1929 Improvement relating in heat treatment of metallic wire or strip

c.1924 Invented a battering machine for battering of the single hole dies after the first breaking-down operation on wire under manufacturer. The machines were made by George Crossley and Co

by 1919 Pinder was an engineer working for S. Haley and Son of Cleckheaton
