1964 Acquired W. Whitehead[1]

1993 Three main operations:

  • Fabrics from natural fibres
  • Textiles from synthetic fibres, especially for clothing
  • Carpets.

The company acquired Coating Applications (Textiles) Ltd and its subsidiary Coating Applications (Elastomers) Ltd adding to the fabric coating operations of J. B. Broadley. Had recently acquired the worsted spinning capacity of John Foster and Son plc. Southfield Mills worsted spinning operations in Huddersfield were sold to Hield Brothers - Thomas Birkhead and Son, Moxon Huddersfield, Southfield Mills Manufacturing Co, and W. Whitehead and Sons.[2]
