Leeds Tramway


1871 Parliamentary powers were sought to enable the incorporation of the Leeds Tramways Company[1]
1891 Thomas Whitehead became chief engineer to the Roundhay Electric Tramways Company,
1893 Leeds Electric Tramway Co successfully defended a case brought by the National Telephone Co concerning electrical interference.
1900 The Leeds Corporation Act empowered the Corporation to lay down tramways, extending the powers it had under the 1896 Act[2] - see Leeds Corporation Tramways
