1872 A few years before his death, George Raine (senior) left the partnership with his brother Nicholas who continued the business of Raine Brothers, Iron merchants of South Hylton[1]
Later George Raine was chairman and managing director of Raine and Co
c.1939 Alfred Johnson Raine was chairman and managing director
1951 Nationalised under the Iron and Steel Act; became part of the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain[2]
1967 One of the larger steel re-rollers not subject to nationalisation[3]
