c.1870 John Phanuel Roe erected extensive steel-making plant, and remodelled portions of the older parts of the ironworks.[1]
Up to 1890 G. J. Snelus was general manager of the works
1890 Mr. Moses Salter retired from the management of the Bessemer department of the West Cumberland Steel Works and Mr. Andrew Little took on the management of the department and of the rail mill at the works.
