1879 Business started by Daniel Meredew as a maker of overmantels.

1907 Daniel Meredew retired and the firm was taken over by Frederick Hard, supplier of glass to the company.

1913 Relocated the business to Letchworth

1965 Employing 1,500 with factories at Letchworth, Bradford and Pontefract.

1969 Acquired by Bond Worth Holdings[1]

1978 Went into receivership due to debts of associated companies, especially guarantees for other companies in the Bond Worth group; a new company, Meredew Furniture, was formed to take over the Letchworth factory[2] which was taken over by Stag Furniture Holdings[3]
