Engineers and forge masters

1870 Company founded.

1884 Private company formed as Emerson Walker and Thompson Brothers Ltd, presumably by joining with Thompson Brothers, also of Dunston.

1888 Emerson Walker and Thompson Brothers supplied a patent windlass for the South Briton[1]

1896 Emerson Walker and Thompson Brothers supplied steam windlasses for the Garmoyle[2]

1906 Emerson Walker supplied the steam windlass for the Towergate which was launched at Sunderland[3]

1909 Emerson Walker and Thompson Brothers supplied a steam windlass and capstan for the Gerania [4]

Worked closely with Clarke, Chapman and Co for many years.

1927 "Noted for steam windlasses[5]

1928 Name changed.

1961 General engineers specialising in the manufacture of windlasses and steam capstans and ships auxiliary machines. 400 employees.
