Supplier of rubber and synthetic rubber components to the automotive industry

Proprietors of Empire Rubber Co Ltd and Rubber Bonders Ltd[1]

1927 Herbert Glencairn Wright Chichester-Miles set up a business as merchants and suppliers of rubber components to the automobile industry under the name Empire Rubber Company.

1929 H. G. Miles Ltd was incorporated as a private company to acquire this business which continued to trade under the name Empire Rubber.

1938 A factory was built at Dunstable for the business.

1955 H. G. Miles (Holdings) was incorporated as a public company to acquire the shares in H. G. Miles Ltd[2]

1964 Had diversified into plastic reinforced hose; [3]

1966 Sold 20 percent of their Australian subsidiary to Dunlop Rubber Australia[4]
