- 1968 Merger of W. H. Allen, Sons and Co and Belliss and Morcom; new holding company known as The Amalgamated Power Engineering Company Ltd (APE) would be owned 60:40 by Allen's, and Belliss's shareholders[1].
- 1968 Crossley Brothers taken over.
- 1968 Agreement with Cooper-Bessemer that the company would manufacture plant for gas treatment which Cooper-Bessemer would sell in its worldwide activities. Manufacturing of various types of compressors would be in Manchester, Birmingham, Pershore and Bedford[2].
- 1969 APE acquired the industrial pumps business of Vickers based in Barrow in Furness; this took place through APE's Allen Gwynnes Pumps subsidiary[3].
- 1971 APE's business was not profitable so some subsidiaries were closed or sold.
- APE's parent company became NEI
- October 1989, NEI was taken over by Rolls-Royce plc
