Spindle and Fly maker of Medlock Street, Downing Street, Ardwick, Manchester

1848 Disastrous boiler explosion on Friday, 11th February, destroyed Riley's works and it was reported the following day that nine men and boys had died. The boiler was in poor condition and had been patched up by Riley.[1]
