HARALD WILHELM WIDMARK was born at Ljusdal, Sweden, on 29th April 1839, and received his education at the Technical Institute, Stockholm.
In 1858 he became a draughtsman at the engineering works of Messrs. Lindahl and Runers at Gefle, and in 1863 he went in a similar capacity to the Avonside Engine Co.'s Works in Bristol, subsequently becoming chief engineer in 1865. This position ho held until 1879, when he was appointed manager of the Helsingborg Engineering Works, Sweden.
Among his inventions may be mentioned a centrifugal governor, also an arrangement for blow-off cocks on steam cylinders, and all improved radial axle-box, on which he contributed a Paper to the Institution.
His death took place at Stockholm on 23rd June 1904, at the ago of sixty-five.
He became a Member of this Institution in 1878.
