1856 Founded as Victoria Foundry
1861 Partnership of James Hunt and James Michael Opie
1861 Completed the 'Lady Barkly' locomotive designed by James R. Davies and built under the supervision of William Errington. This was the first locomotive built at Ballarat and was later demonstrated at Invercargill, New Zealand, and two engines were ordered for the Oreti Railway. These two were built by Robinson, Thomas and Co
1870 James Hunt was in sole control.
1871 Completed a locomotive - the 'Ballarat' - designed by J. Robinson and then shipped to Busselton, WA.
1873 Victoria foundry closed following the illness of James Hunt
