1984 GKN Replacement Services Ltd. changed its name to GKN Autoparts Distribution Ltd.

1986 The automotive parts distribution business of Burmah Oil Co was subject to a management buyout and adopted the name Partco Group; the company had 300 branches nationwide[1]

1989 Partco Ltd acquired GKN Autoparts, except for some businesses that Partco did not want

1995 The company became Partco AutoParts Ltd.

1996 Acquired Serck Marston, distributor of radiators

1997 Acquired Brown Brothers, maker of car components, which means the company had trebled in size since flotation in 1994[2]
