It is with regret that we record the death of Mr. H. E. Sheardown, which occurred at Beverley last week.
Mr. Sheardown, who was seventy-two years of age, and a native of Hull, served his apprenticeship with Charles D. Holmes and Co., Ltd., the marine engineers of Hull, a firm of which he was later to become a d1rector and chairman.
He was the chairman of Cook, Welton and Gemmell, Ltd., of the Humber Brass and Copper Works Company, Ltd., and of Turner and Sellars, Ltd., and also served on the boards of the Kingston Steam Trawling Company, Ltd., and other companies.
Mr. Sheardown, who was awarded the C.B.E. last year, was the chairman of the National Association of Marine Engine Builders in 1947, and a member of the General and Technical Committees of Lloyd's Register of Shipping.
