1850 Edwin Nicholas Windsor became proprietor of the works that had been founded as Hall, Powell and Scott in Rouen in 1832 .
The firm made steam engines, movement transmission devices, lifting equipment for municipal water departments, and hydraulic engines which were exported and offered a competitive challenge to English and German industry because of their superior quality.
c1860 His son, Edwin Wells Windsor, became a partner in the business
1883 Edwin Wells Windsor had sole control of the business. Presumably it then became E. W. Windsor et Cie
1889 Tandem compound steam engine by E. W. Windsor & Cie. exhibited at the Exposition Universelle[1]
