1919 The business was incorporated as a private company, The Sandport Engineering and Ship Repairing Company Limited, with capital of £10,000.[1]

The company was the sole manufacturer of Lyall's Patent Economic Valve for steam steering engines. In 1955 the company had a 165 ft private dry dock.

1989 The company went into voluntary liquidation.
