1874 Patent to Peter Coats, junior, of Paisley, in the county of Renfrew, North Britain, Thread Manufacturer, for the invention of " improvements in machinery for rewinding yarn or thread."[1]

1891 Peter Coats 49, thread manufacturer, lived in Paisley Abbey, with Daniel Coats 46 Brother, thread manufacturer[2]
